Beth’s Story
Beth started fundraising for Ninewells Cancer Campaign in 2015 in memory of her nephew Mark who tragically died of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma when he was only 23 years old, an event which devastated his whole family.
Beth wanted to pay tribute to Mark and support a local charity that was impacting the lives of people in and around Dundee, so she decided to sign up for an overseas trek to Brazil and started fundraising for NCC! With the help of friends and family Beth set up a pop-up shop and held a ladies day at her house with raffles and prizes donated from many local businesses. Beth said “I thoroughly enjoyed fundraising for NCC, my friends, family and people within the local community were so generous. It was truly a humbling and rewarding experience.”
By the time she set off on her trek Beth had raised an incredible £3000!
Not long after her adventure to Brazil Beth celebrated her 50th Birthday and in lieu of gifts asked her friends and family to donate to NCC, a gesture that her mum went on to repeat when she celebrated her 80th birthday a few years later.
After seeing the positive impact that NCC has on the local community Beth decided to continue supporting our work by setting up a direct debit, donating monthly to NCC. To date Beth has raised in excess of £7,000 for NCC through her charity trek, birthday celebrations and monthly gifts.
“I give to NCC because all the money raised stays locally and supports cancer research in Dundee. I feel passionately about supporting local causes and believe NCC are making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by cancer in Tayside.”
