Amy Johnston raises more than £3000 for the Ninewells Cancer Campaign

In September 2014 Amy and 10 of her closest friends (Gillian Docherty, Janine Mckenzie, Janey Neville, Lynne Goodall, Corrie Auchterlonie, Katie Wilson, Chloe Johnstone, Steph Sommerville, Laurie Greenhill and Wendy Stewart) rallied together to raise as much money as possible for Ninewells Cancer Campaign by climbing Ben Nevis.  The girls wanted the money to go to NCC as Dundee is where all of their loved ones are treated and cared for if they are diagnosed with cancer.  It a cause particularly close to Amy’s heart as her Mum recently battled cancer and her partners Gran passed away last year after 5 years of fighting it. Amy told us that “the climb itself was a definite challenge for our group with none of us being hill walkers, but we were lucky with a clear day and amazing views.  We all took varying times to complete the walk between 6-9 hours - all the girls did so well and had their own reasons for wanting to help.  I would like to thank them for their immediate willingness to join in and their efforts to raise such a great amount of money”.

Amy is pictured presenting a cheque for £3268 to Lady Fiona Fraser, Dr Gareth Inman and Dr Marios Stavridis, both research group leaders in the Jacqui Wood Cancer Centre.
