  • MaraFUN for JWCC scientists

Jacqui Wood Cancer Centre research scientists and PhD students took to the streets of Forfar to run in May's 2014 Marafun, organised by the Rotary Club of Forfar.

The biannual Marafun has raised more than £140,000 to support vital cancer research in Dundee - one of the UK's leading centres which works across the the complete scientific spectrum, from laboratory based research to drug development, patient care and cancer prevention.

  • Trust in Dundee to deliver results

A £3000 donation made by a local pensioner to cancer researchers at the University of Dundee has directly led to a significant breakthrough in kidney cancer.

Celia Gordon made the donation to Professor Stewart Fleming’s team in 2009. The money was used to begin a study on a form of inherited kidney cancer, which has now resulted in the discovery and development of a diagnostic test that could save patients’ lives.
